Imerovigli is amphitheatrically built on a cliff and has amazing views of the caldera. Its unique view has earned it the name "Balcony on the Aegean". It is located 3 kilometers northwest of Fira, the capital of Santorini. In reality, it is connected to Fira and it dominates the highest spot of the Caldera, approximately 300 meters above sea level. Imerovigli has an intense Cycladic feel with white houses, churches with blue cupolas and quaint cobbled streets that are ideal for walks. In front of the village is a huge rock called “Skaros”. This used to be the capital of Santorini until the 18th century. From the rock of Skaros there is a small path that leads to the church of Theoskepasti, which is built at the edge of the cliff and offers amazing views of the islands of Palia Kameni and Nea Kameni.
Imerovigli also has bars, cafes, taverns and restaurants, combining an cosmopolitan atmosphere with a sense of tranquility and serenity that you will not find anywhere else in Santorini.
